Fifteen year old Azzy Robinson was the target of bullying a few years ago and it tore him apart. He became reclusive and would sleep all the time. Everything changed when Azzy switched to a new school, Laverne High School in Tennessee. His new classmates were aware that he’d been bullied, so they wanted to do something nice for him. So two buddies walked in carrying gifts. Azzie had no idea what was going on. We got you some stuff because of, like, how generous you are and everything you do. And the moment he saw new Nike sneakers that his classmates had chipped in to buy, the tears started flowing. This is nothing, Azzy. All the stuff you’ve done for everyone in this class, you deserve way more than this. Azzy whispers his gratitude. Thank you. But there’s more. Another classmate gave him new clothes and then came a warm pat on the back. Those tears were pure joy. Almost proud to be me for once because they wanted to do something for me like that. I heard him say, “For once it feels good to be Azzy,” and I said what a joy. We love Azzy.
