Hi. I’m Dr. Iris Lafferty, a faculty
member with Ashford University’s College of Education. Students graduate from Ashford’s
Bachelor of Arts in Instructional Design ready to create and deliver high-tech
instruction for varied education and corporate learning
environments. I like to think of them as a learning architects. The ever changing role of the
Instructional Designer is reflected in the curriculum which explores learning theory, curriculum development,
and the development and implementation have training processes. The faculty
members in this program have expertise and education training
and/or technologies as it relates to learning and most have doctorates in their fields
as well. Personally, I feel my own work as an
educator and researcher enriches the discussions
I have with my instructional design students. Among some of my favorite courses in
this program are Instructional Design for e-learning, Learning and the Brain, and Emerging
Issues in Educational Technology. This degree
program get students excited about the connections between thinking, learning, technology, and practical applications in the workplace.
it’s a joy helping students bridge theory to practice.
