This course provides participants with the opportunity to engage with research methods with a view to looking at their own academic development, but also in terms of thinking about their own practice and being able to apply research skills in their own practice setting. This is really for anyone who would be interested in studying at postgraduate level, maybe as a refresher course or an introductory course, and also perhaps for professionals who would like to be able to explore their own practice in a bit more depth. If you decide to study on this course you’ll be working with a range of very experienced professionals. You will have access to a broad range of resources and you will be working within a school which is focused on connecting research and practice. Students will be introduced to a broad range of research skills: research project planning, opportunities to collect data and analyse that data, and these are skills which are transferable to the workplace situation. Students undertaking this course will be able to make steps towards developing their postgraduate study and/or being able to apply skills in their own professional settings to help them to progress their own career. This is a fully online course. Students will be asked to engage with resources in the virtual learning environment. We will have a small number of discussion sessions online and we will provide students with support all the way through the programme so they can make good progress towards their individual assessments. This is a 15 week course so notionally students are expected to put in 150 hours of effort. There are a small number of one hour online sessions to support learning. Students are expected to engage with the resources online in a self-study format.
