course. Your first three steps are: 1. If you haven’t already read through the
Course Information documents in this folder, do so now. They contain important information
about how this course is structured, how you’ll be evaluated, and more. I recommend you print
out the course schedule and checklists and keep them handy to remind you of important
tasks and dates. 2. If you are unfamiliar with the Blackboard
Learning Management System (LMS), take some time to go through the Open SUNY Student Orientation.
It will introduce you to the Blackboard LMS and show you how to navigate around your course.
The Student Orientation is run by the Open SUNY HelpDesk.
3. Start the course by entering the Content Tab on the menu. This includes introducing
yourself and meeting your classmates by participating in the Icebreaker Discussion. The Icebreaker
activity will help us get to know each other and begin to build a community of learning.
Feel free to add a link to your favorite web site, or attach a digital image of yourself.
Since profiles and introductions will be posted as people join the course for the first time,
you may have to return to these area several times to see the latest updates and entries.
When you have completed these first three “icebreaking” steps, you will be already on
you path to completion.
